Despite pipeline design and construction typically being a male dominated industry, FB strives to create a gender-balanced working environment by offering women equal opportunity in this growing field. Constance Keenan recently commenced with FB as a part of our undergraduate program. Constance is a second year Civil Engineering and Commerce student from the University of Queensland, where she has been granted a scholarship for her engineering studies. Her experience at FB has included working on our recent M1/M3 Gateway Upgrade Waterworks project and upcoming Parkes End User Connections project.
Constance says, ‘It has been a very steep but enjoyable learning curve, being given various opportunities of exposure to the industry. This has included quality control, practical work on sites (both in Brisbane and in Yass), interaction with clients, and a myriad of other project-specific tasks. FB have been extremely accepting of my lack of industry experience, always encouraging me to learn and engage in new experiences’.
